The Winter that Wasn't

Sorry for the lack of posting.. but when the "excitement" for winter weather is a Special Weather Statement calling for 'less than an inch' of snow in the Dayton office.  We might have an inch or so Friday night into Saturday.

Winter Weather is Baaaack

Ice, sleet and snow is bearing down on Dayton. I would rather 10" of snow over .25" of ice.

Depending on your location we could see .1-.3 of an inch. Let's hope for more snow than ice.

Brrrr... Cold and Snow

Considering it was nearly 50 and sunny only a couple of days ago this is quite a change. But it IS January so a little cold and snow is due.  Today with the light snow, cold temperatures and winds the wind chill will be hovering around zero.   We should get out of this cold snap with just around 2" of the white stuff.

 Today's temps will be 10-15 degrees below our norms on this day, so bundle up.

The good news is it won't last long temps will be back to normal or slightly above by Monday.

Let the Warm Up Begin

After a cold morning we'll begin our warming trend through the work week. By Friday we may hit 50. The snow will be history at least for a little while.

Cold Ends Today

A cold morning with temps in the teens were the norm today. Highs will reach the mid 20s. There is still a chance of a few flurries or snow showers.

It will start warming up tomorrow and could reach 50 by Friday.

Cold and Windy with some Snow

Our first blast of cold weather arrive with the new year. Yesterday's wind brought behind it some colder air.

Today the winds aren't as brisk but temps won't break out of the 20s. A dusting to 1 inch of snow could accumulate by Tuesday.

Warmer temps will be with us by Wednesday.

Colder Temps for a Brief Stay

Enjoy the warmth for the end of 2011 and the start of 2012. By Monday we won't be reaching 30 degrees.

With the cold temps and moisture would be snow. But alas, the air will be dry. No snow is expected any time soon.

From the NWS: Rain will mix with snow this morning before changing back to all rain by the late morning hours. Little to no snow accumulation is expected.

Finally Something to Talk About

Between the holidays and the general lack of anything significant to talk about it has been very quiet here. I mean sure I could have posted 40/30 highs/lows with some showers for a week or so, but I digress.

The big ( if you want to call it that ) is we have snow in the forecast. It should be only about an inch but so far it's all we have to offer. Enjoy just a hint of winter weather!

Wet Start to Christmas Week

Yesterday brought us breezy skies with even an occasional snow flurry or two. The beginning of the work week will be wet and rainy. High in the 40s and lows in the 30/40s. No chance for a White Christmas this year for Dayton.

Bright sunshine but cold today. A good day for picking up a tree or getting out to finish your shopping.

So Where is the Snow?

It looks like the snow called for today has taken it's sweet time to head into the greater Dayton area.  As of 10:15 the snow activity is to our west with the first bands of near Richmond, IN.  There looks to be heavier amounts over near Indy. Fingers crossed it will make it our way before peetering out.

Snow... There is a chance.

Tonight and tomorrow there is about a 30% chance of snow. Nothing really to worry about. Just a dusting to brighten things up.

Clearning Out but Colder

With the freezing drizzle turning out to be more or less a bust, we were greeted this morning to a few light flurries. Something to consider with the rain totals from this storm between 2 and 3 inches if the temps had been cold enough for snow that would translate to between 20 and 30 inches! 

For the rest of the week we'll slowly move the clouds out with increasing sunshine through the weekend. However temps will be below normal with high temps not getting out of the 30 until next week. Lows in the 20s.

Nasty Night In Store?

With temps falling to near freezing or below and this pesky light drizzle we have the potential for some freezing drizzle making surfaces dicey. Be careful traveling throughout the evening and over night. Black ice and freezing standing water is a distinct possibility.

Wet Weather - Cooler Temp to Come

The wet weather came into the region on Sunday and continues through today. Flood watches are in effect for the entire area.  The rain will continue until early Tuesday.  We should get a chance to dry out the rest of the week. But, temps will barely reach 40 degrees - which is a few degrees cooler than normal.

Warm Up For a Bit

Sunny skies and warmer temperatures are on tap for today and Saturday before another system will likely bring rain our way for Sunday and Monday.
